So Long and Thanks for all the DLTV

Given the cutbacks at Revision 3 late last year, you had to figure that time was running out for PC Mag's video podcast, DLTV. Last week show host Robert Heron announced that the show was going on hiatus, as cuts behind the scenes would effect the production of the show.

From his post:

"DL.TV production is going on hiatus effective immediately. The last few months have seen numerous behind the scene changes for DL.TV and the end result is that there are too few bodies left to put out a consistent and quality show. I want to thank everyone who has supported the show over the years, and I want to encourage anyone/everyone to continue to participate in the Folding@Home program - it's a worthy cause and the members of team #57391 remains a force to be reckoned with. My work at PCMag.com continues and my interest in all things related to home theater is as strong as ever. Feel free to post your related questions and comments in our forums.

Take care and best wishes, Robert Heron"

The site is still there and you can download and watch February 5ths show, # 267: Guerilla Style.

To be honest, the show never did fully recover from the exodus of Patrick Norton to the aforementioned Revision 3, along with show producer Roger Chang. Although Heron did a great job to keep the show going, his on-set chemistry with Norton is one of the reasons DLTV was became the hit that it was.

I can't help also factor in that once Leo Laporte went to live streaming, DLTV as well as Cranky Geeks and for that matter Tekzilla seemed to almost stale overnight. It speaks to the impact of live internet programming, even in its current infant state.

I do though wish the best for the DLTV crew and thank them for their years of entertaining and informative content. Let's hope Robert, Scott, Llyod and the rest never stray too far too long from the airwaves.

Update: According to Leo Laporte on his live video stream this evening, Robert Heron is a scheduled guest for the February 22nd edition of TWiT.

Update #2: Robert was indeed on the TWiT panel yesterday and thankfully confirmed that DLTV was in hiatus due to the lack of warm bodies to put the show together, and that the plan is to bring it back at some point.
